Skiing While Racing The Clock

Many people are great skiers and enjoy the sport immensely. When a skier is tasked with racing downhill and being timed while doing it, the sport of skiing takes on a new light and some skiers cannot handle the pressure. After many hours of training though, they will feel that they are comfortable enough with the timing process to best their time every time they attempt a certain style of skiing.

Many skiers will go on vacation and spend the day on the ski slopes enjoying the brisk wind in their face and the fact that they are challenging their inner being to perform acts that are foreign to them at first. It takes a while for even a seasoned skier to get back in the swing of things and will their body to move in positions that they might not have done in a year or more. If those same skiers were being timed, they might find it impossible to finish the course with a good time.

Some recreational skiers will find it difficult to make sharp turns, but they will still try some slalom skiing techniques. This type of skier is not an Olympian by any means but could have the heart of an Olympian and still strive to do their best while skiing with friends. In the spirit of having a great time while on vacation, they might even challenge a friend to a timed trial down a slope. Some skiers might even build ramps out of snow and challenge their friends to an afternoon of snowboarding.

Some people might wonder where a recreational skier would get ideas to time themselves. The skiers were probably inspired at one time by an Olympian that excelled in a giant slalom event at the Olympics and had the vanity to believe that if one individual could perform with such daring, then they had the right to try that course out for size too. Of course, if that course was timed, the ending time would be far more than what it would be if the Olympian had raced with them down the hill.

Some vacationers get very adventurous when they see the winter wonderland environment of a ski resort for the first time. There is certain to be a ski party formed that will try out some cross-country skiing just so they can see the sights. This group of skiers would never think that their slow pace would ever be timed, but they do not know about the safety patrols in the mountains who are keeping a watchful eye out on the progress they make each day.

There is certain to be many skiers on the slopes who will toss the idea of timing aside and simply enjoy the refreshing feeling that skiing offers them. These skiers are likely to test out all types of freestyle skiing maneuvers as they ski down a ski slope in the middle of the day. Skiing will be the most important thing to them until hunger overtakes them and they go in search for another type of sustenance.

While skiing for recreation, a group of skiers will also know that can continue their adventures inside a ski lodge and enjoy other types of fun that they are only privy to once or twice a year. The lodging provided by the ski resort will ensure that they are well rested for whatever type of skiing they want to do the next day.
