What can I do to get my 15 month old to sleep through the night??
My daughter is 15 months old and has refussed to sleep in her crib for a full night since she was an infant. I do still nurse her only at night right before bed. She will fall asleep during nursing. We than try to bring her to her crib to sleep, that’s when she either wakes up screaming hysterical or she will only stay in there for maybe 2hours. She wakes up either wanting to nurse, play, watch tv, sleep in bed with us….
WE can’t take this anymore! My husband & I are fighting everynight because of this lack of sleep for both of us. Either myself or him have to take her downstairs to try to calm her down. She is such a night owl…..We don’t know what to do anymore with her. Our other kids were never like this. They both slept through the night from day one. Not this little one. I also, want to stop nursing her totally, but she refusses to take the bottle at night.
But, it just seems to be getting worse lately. What can we do or give her to STOP this. We NEED SLEEP & HELP!
It’s hard to let them cry it out.
When my daughter wakes up at night- it happens occasionally- it’s hard for me not to go to her. Instead I compromise. I go to her room, but the most I do is rub her back. This helps relax her and get her back to sleep, which is actually what she wants to do, just sometimes doesn’t quite know how.
Once I get her close to la-la land, I back off and make my way quietly out of the room. Sometimes she gets into sleep on her own, other times she’ll start crying, but she’ll be so tired that she might cry for 3 minutes- max. All in all- this might take me about 15 minutes.
Another thing you MIGHT consider trying- a homeopathic medicine for restless babies. Hyland’s and Bioron make them. They are non-addictive so you COULD use them every night, or you can save them for when you are really desperate. They do work although we don’t use them every night.
I didn’t nurse for very long so I don’t know but it may be true what others have said- perhaps weaning might help reduce this problem better than anything. Since she’s proabably getting enough nutrition during the day, she may not even need to nurse OR take a bottle.
