How do bees construct hexagons?
Or, if you prefer, hexagonal tubes?
Many species of bee don’t make hexagonal tubes or combs but dig into mud or soil. These burrows are tubular. When honey bees build a hive they lay down a tube. Compression of the wax from which these tubes are made produces an hexagonal pattern.
