Is Tibetan silver safe to wear? The material in it is a zinc alloy metal. They say it’s lead free.?
Is Tibetan silver safe to wear? The of is it on e-bay is MATERIAL: zinc alloy metal (lead free) . I want to wear some Tibetan silver around my neck. Is it safe if it says lead free. They say it’s zinc alloy metal and that it’s lead free.
An alloy is a mixture of two or more metals. Brass is an alloy of Zinc and Copper. The jewlery might be nothing more than Silver plated brass. Copper itself is commonly added to Silver and Gold alloys. Lead is not used in Silver alloys or brass.
“Silver” fillings in teeth are a Mercury/Silver alloy. Mercury is far more toxic than Lead. If an adult has 10 or more fillings, they are exceeding their maximum daily exposure to Mercury. It isn’t much, but this exposure lasts a lifetime. Both Lead and Mercury affect the nervous system and high levels of exposure can lead to mental impairment, convulsions and physcosis.
