2. Surfing Goggles
Although you don’t often see this in movies about surfing, many serious surfers wear goggles. Most stores refer to them as “water goggles” and they are the key to the success of a true athlete. The sun can really impair one’s vision and this alone can cause major injury or prevent one from catching the best wave. A great pair of water or surfing goggles will help solve that problem, as they will help deflect the suns rays so that everything is visible. The surfer can look in every direction without glare.
In addition to keeping out the glare, the surfing goggles should also protect your athlete from UV rays. He needs to have great peripheral vision to have a safe surf and the goggles should allow for that and be unobscured around the sides. A protective and non scratch coating is key for water goggles as well. Make sure the goggles prevent fogging which can be a big problem and while it might be obvious, double check that they keep out water. It’s a good idea to also try on the goggles yourself before you make the purchase, as you’ll want to see that they feel comfortable and lightweight to the recipient.
3. Board Shorts
Both male and female surfers need shorts that can withstand the major force of the waves and prevent a wardrobe malfunction from happening. Having a fashion forward pair of shorts will make your recipient feel like he wants to go out and surf right away. These trunks, as they are also called, don’t have to be boring. You can find styles and colors to match the taste of just about any man or woman. Finding a pair that is machine washable will also make this a very practical gift.
