Where or how can I clean my engagement ring thoroughly?
My ring has these baguettes on the side which get a little dirty and ugly looking in comparison to the rest of the ring that has bigger princess cuts. How can I clean the inside to get the baguettes looking shiny? I have a cleaning solution that was given to me by the jeweler and I use that with a brush, but what can I use or where can I go to get it REALLY clean?
I take it to the jewler occasionally, but they just place it in this vat of solution…it doent really get scrubbed…
There are a couple of ways to clean it at home.
1. You can use a toothbrush and dish soap (like Dawn.) The dish soap dissolves grease on your ring to make it nice and sparkly.
2. You can put your ring in the dishwasher. Yes, it sounds crazy but this was actually recommended by my jeweler. What you do is you use a twist tie and secure the ring very well in the utensil container of your dishwasher. Run it through like normal with your dishes and dish soap.
But really if you want your ring very very clean, there is no substitute for taking to the jeweler and having them steam clean it. This should be free at the place where you bought your ring. If you go somewhere else, they may charge you around $20 for the cleaning.
