Hemp Jewelry/Macrame?

I’ve just started teaching myself how to tie together hemp bracelets and necklaces and I’m doing quite well with it except for one thing. During the making of the bracelet or necklace, the hemp itself begins to twist, making the item look like a spiral. Even when I pin down the item as I make it, it will twist the moment I’m finished and take out all of the pins. Is it the way I’m tying it? I use the square knot method. Any tips?

Insted of doing the same knot over and over, reverse it. You know, like when you make the thing that looks like a “4″, make it face the right, then the left, and so on. If you do it all facing the same way, the hemp will definatly twist.
