How to design rings with diamond settings

Diamond settings – Settings for the most precious stone of all. This allows you to get a customized ring as per your requirement.   
The shape, size and number of diamonds used in forming the ring, determines the type diamond ring setting.

The different types of Settings available are:

• Prong Diamond Setting

It is the most common setting, where there are 4 narrow prongs on the ring that  
balances the stone.

• Bezel Diamond Setting

This type of setting gives you a very modern and subtle appearance; on           
each side, the ring is folded with a flap to hold the solitary diamond.

• Channel Diamond Setting

In this type of setting, either the center of the ring or the entire circumference
is groove cut, on which the stones are placed that have been cut accordingly.
In order to accommodate various cuts of stones, several molded varieties of                
the setting been made available.

• Pave Diamond Setting

This setting is used where multiple stones need to be placed on the ring. In order   
to accomplish that, small holes are drilled on the top of the ring, and the stones are   
placed on it.

• Cluster Diamond Ring Setting
  This type of setting is pretty much similar to the Pave setting, however in this case the cluster changes as per the size of stone that has been used; a specific pattern is formed as per the multiple stones set.

There are many ways of making the diamond look bigger than it actually is – one such setting is the Illusion Setting.

Illusion setting
This type of setting was popularly used for many years so as to make the diamond look bigger than it actually is. In this setting, a reflective white plate is placed around the stone, thereby making it look bigger than its original size. The white plate is bright cut and is placed inside a claw type setting. However, the disadvantage with the Illusion setting is that, the plate would lose its polish over time, and replacing or repairing the same is pretty expensive.
