What is the name of a famous celtic band that the female singer went solo?

I know there may be many answers to this question. The point is that a friend of mine lost his daughter a few months ago. He asked me if I knew about a celtic band whose female singer recently went solo; his daughter used to listen to this band but he can’t recall the name. It’s not The Corrs as the instruments they played were not the same as the ones used in pop/rock band. If you can let me know some names then I’ll do further research.
